My hubby and I were supposed to be in Davao to celebrate my birthday and my friend Desa’s birthday. Since we can’t go because of my mom’s current situation, they invited me for dinner. After our Red Crab experience, we just strolled in Greenbelt then brought Nicole home so we could meet with my friends. Still fresh from Davao, they went straight from the airport to Eastwood to meet me and Joylee! They were my dearest friends: Ayette, Desa, Elaine, Hya, Rach and Oby!

On the menu:
Steak Hummus, Lamb Gyros, mixed meat gyros, Pastisado (family size) and their famous traditional dish Moussaka! (sorry, forgot to take a picture).
Steak Hummus is like pita bread with steak dip. Moussaka is like lasagna but uses eggplant instead of pasta. Lamb gyro is like shawarma while Pastisado is beef shank braised in Greek tomato sauce served over spaghetti. It’s like having pasta with caldereta sauce or bulalo!
I enjoyed eating my gyro and pastisado. The family size serving of their pastisado is really big! Big enough for 5 – 6 people! Overall, the food was superb! Thank you gals for spending your dinner with me! You’re the best!

Wiki definition:
Moussaka:
In the usual Greek three-layer recipe, the bottom layer consists of aubergine slices sautéed in olive oil; the middle layer is ground lamb cooked with onion, garlic, chopped tomatoes, herbs, and spices (cinnamon, allspiceand black pepper); and the top layer is a béchamel sauce or egg custard (probably introduced by Tselementesin the 1920s). Each layer is cooked on its own and then they are layered in a pan and baked until the top layer is browned. Moussaka is usually served lukewarm, as it keeps its shape better.
